Nordpol kro

Northern Norway’s oldest pub for polar explorers and locals
Restoration: 2012
Developed: Bjørn Bredesen

Nordpol pub was the last overnight stop for Fridjof Nansen before the “Fram2” expedition continued on to the North Pole in 1898.

As innkeeper for Norway’s oldest pub, Bjørn Bredesen is putting in the hard yards to establish it as the central meeting point for locals and visitors.

The dream is to restore the second floor as a bed and breakfast as it was in the times of Nansen. This final touch will allow Nordpol Kro to again offer the full pub service with bed and breakfast in the polar historical spirit.

Nordpol Kro is one of several buildings with cultural heritage value in the city part Festningsgata og Belsen.
